Muon Space Secures Direct to Phase II Award for SDA Missile Warning

Muon Space secured a $1.9 million SBIR Direct to Phase II award from the Space Development Agency to develop an advanced infrared payload for missile warning and tracking. The contract supports SDA’s Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture.

The project will demonstrate Muon’s IR sensor technology for missile detection applications, building on the company’s existing multispectral infrared instrument heritage from the FireSat program.

CEO Jonny Dyer noted that the award validates Muon’s dual-use approach, leveraging commercial Earth observation technology for national security missions.
