Muon Space announced the successful deployment of MuSat-1, the company’s first orbital satellite, launched on SpaceX’s Transporter-8 mission from Vandenberg Space Force Base. The ESPA-class spacecraft represents a major milestone toward the Climate Constellation.
MuSat-1 lifted off on June 12 and established first contact approximately six minutes after deployment from a ground station in Gavle, Sweden. Engineering telemetry confirmed the spacecraft is operating nominally.
The Climate Constellation will deliver sub-hourly global measurements with dramatically improved temporal cadence, with MuSat-2 and MuSat-3 in development to establish a regular launch schedule.
