Selected by AFWERX for SBIR Phase I

Muon Space was selected by AFWERX for a SBIR Phase I contract focused on weather intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, and operational mission planning. The company will conduct a feasibility study to evaluate modifying its multispectral EO/IR instrument for cloud characterization.

The DoD faces challenges replacing aging Defense Meteorological Satellite Program satellites. Muon’s study represents an initial step toward developing next-generation cloud characterization capabilities.

Greg Smirin, President of Muon Space, noted the DoD is pivoting to a more resilient distributed weather satellite architecture, creating opportunities for commercial providers.
