Muon Space announced the successful launch and initial contact of VanZyl-2, developed for Hydrosat. The satellite achieved contact six minutes after deployment and represents the fourth spacecraft launched using Muon’s Halo platform.
VanZyl-2 launched aboard SpaceX’s Transporter-14 mission from Vandenberg Space Force Base. The satellite carries Hydrosat’s thermal infrared and multispectral imaging instruments, expanding collection capacity 4X compared to VanZyl-1.
The enhanced system captures eight million square kilometers of data daily, supporting agricultural monitoring, environmental intelligence, and heat detection applications.
